Work on the G.I.S. Project to digitize agricultural fields
in Adams, Franklin, and Grant counties began in 1999 and was finished in
late 2000. During the summers of 2000 and 2001 crop and irrigation
data was collected for each field. This was accomplished with a
field check or satellite imagery. The database has important information like acres,
irrigation, and crop data.
This G.I.S. will provide the GWMA with detailed area maps and formulas for the purpose of calculating the vulnerability for the penetration of nitrate to the ground water. |
